What this means for your pet

BAVH members are qualified vets who have additional training in herbal medicine. As RCVS-registered vets, they are subject to the full RCVS regulatory framework and can provide conventional care alongside herbal treatments.

About this accreditation

The BAVH represents veterinary surgeons who use herbal medicines to treat animals. It promotes the safe, effective, and responsible use of herbal medicines in veterinary practice. Members are RCVS-registered vets with additional training in herbal medicine.

Who can hold this accreditation

Must be a veterinary surgeon. Two tiers: Qualified veterinary herbalist and Student veterinary herbalist.

Referral requirement

Not applicable — members are themselves vets.
