A RAMP-registered practitioner has met rigorous educational standards modelled on those of human therapy regulators. RAMP is recognised by Defra as a voluntary regulator, giving it government endorsement unusual among animal therapy bodies. The 1,000-hour minimum practical training requirement is among the highest in the sector.

About this accreditation

RAMP is a voluntary industry regulatory body for animal chiropractic, osteopathy, and physiotherapy practitioners in the UK. It was created as an industry-led solution to the lack of statutory regulation and is recognised by Defra as the voluntary industry regulator for animal musculoskeletal practitioners. Standards are informed by the GCC, GOsC, HCPC, and RCVS models.

Who can hold this accreditation

Must hold a qualification from a RAMP-accredited educational provider. Minimum 1,000 hours of clinically relevant hands-on supervised and assessed practice, with at least 200 hours on the animal model. Must hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

Yes — legally required under the Veterinary Surgeons (Exemptions) Order 2015.

Title protection

'RAMP Registered' is not a legally protected title, but RAMP has Defra recognition as the voluntary industry regulator.
